January 20, 2010 – Michael Cavendish, a shareholder in Gunster’s Jacksonville office, recently addressed the Jacksonville chapter of the Mortgage Banker’s Association of America on January 13. His presentation, “Managing Passive Law” discussed how business management and legal management connect. He also advised how businesses can manage their legal issues toward greater profits.

“At Gunster, we like to say that the rarest talents and the rarest experiences come from perfecting the business one is entrusted with, from understanding it down to the level of its smallest parts,” said Cavendish. “It was a thrill to translate the analytical focus we use at Florida’s firm for business to a live audience.”

“Mike Cavendish’s presentation was both intriguing and motivating,” said Ken Jones, president of the Mortgage Banker’s Association, Jacksonville chapter. “He touched on subjects that most people overlook, making everyone take a step back and re-evaluate his/her management style.”

In legal and judicial circles, Cavendish is known equally as a practicing lawyer, a legal essayist, and a public lecturer on lawyering, legal ethics, and management issues. In 2009, he appeared in the National Law Journal and The Bencher, and delivered the Law Day key note address to the Marion County, FL bar association.
