West Palm Beach, FL (December 1, 2009) – Michael V. Mitrione, a corporate attorney and shareholder at Gunster, Attorneys at Law in West Palm Beach, has been named Best Lawyers’ 2010 West Palm Beach Corporate Lawyer of the Year.
Lawyers being honored as “Lawyers of the Year” have received particularly high ratings from peer-review surveys based on more than 2.8 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.”
Mitrione, who has been with Gunster since 1979, serves on the firm’s Board of Directors and previously served as chair of its Corporate Law Department for more than 20 years. He concentrates his practice in mergers and acquisitions; private equity and venture capital transactions; corporate finance and securities; joint ventures and partnerships; and other corporate, securities and finance matters. He and his team recently completed an $80.5 million public offering of stock for 1st United Bancorp, Inc.
Active in numerous civic and professional organizations, Mitrione is a member of the 2009-2010 Class of Leadership Florida, and was recently named chair-elect of the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He also has been involved with the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, where he served as Chairman and on its Life Science Strategic Steering Group, the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the University of Florida’s Warrington School of Business, where he is currently on its Advisory Board; Florida Tax Watch, where he serves on its Board of Trustees; Fordham University School of Law, where he serves as the regional president for its Alumni Association; Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Greater Palm Beach Chapter, where he served as its President; The Pine School, where he serves on its Board of Trustees; and the Gary Carter Foundation, where he serves on it Board of Trustees.
Named one of the “Best Lawyers in America” for corporate law each year since 1991, Mitrione also has been recognized as a “Legal Elite” by Florida Trend, a “Florida Super Lawyer” by Law & Politics, and a “Leader in their Field” by Chambers USA. Mitrione, who is fluent in Italian, is a member of the American Bar Association, The Florida Bar and New York State Bar Association.
