Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – March 8, 2007 – South Florida will host the annual Sister Cities International Conference Wednesday, July 18 through Saturday, July 21, 2007.

On September 11, 1956, a major initiative began that has led to thousands of interactions and relationships around the world.  President Dwight D. Eisenhower opened a White House conference that morning on citizen diplomacy and building world peace through grassroots relationships.

The conference mission of providing access to global opportunities will unite representatives from all over the world in South Florida each having one common goal:  World peace and improving their cities quality of life and economic abundance.

This event will include a Mayor’s Reception and a closing night gala titled “Gala Veneziana” with our tri-county mayors and elected officials and a variety of interactive workshops, inspiring speakers, and other international events.  Broward County Convention Center, Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Seminole Hard Rock Casino will be the venues for this world-class event.  On Saturday, July 21, 2007 the attendees and all citizens are invited to participate in an event of exquisite Italian dining, entertainment, dancing and networking.  Tickets to the “Gala Veneziana” are on sale for $175.00.  Tickets may be purchased at [email protected].

The goals of Sister Cities International:

The conference is co-chaired by Arthur J. Furia and Deborah Balliette-Jacobson. Furia, a shareholder with Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A., is also legal counsel for the Republic of Italy in the Southeast USA and the Italian Trade Commission; regional vice president in the Southeast USA and a member of the national board of directors of the National Italian American Foundation; Florida representative of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy; and founding Chairman of the Board of the Primo Carnera Foundation. Balliette-Jacobson is President of American Central Insurance Agency, Inc., which was established in 1968 and specializes in corporate group health insurance, life insurance, long-term care insurance and disability. Additionally she is celebrating 20 years as Consul General, Republic of Tunisia.
