The Southeastern Chapter of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals held its annual meeting in Atlanta on Oct. 1, with Gunster attorneys leading discussions on two major topics of interest.

David Scileppi, co-chair of Gunster’s securities and corporate governance law practice, led a panel on capital raising, focusing on IPOs and offerings under recently updated SEC Regulation A – generally known as Reg A+.

Among the key observations noted was that companies need to select counsel, underwriters and other advisers with whom they feel comfortable, as the process of raising capital often poses challenges and stress.

Bob Lamm, fellow co-chair of Gunster’s securities and corporate governance law practice, conducted an interview with Elizabeth (Betsy) Murphy, associate director of the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance.

The interview was wide-ranging and covered Ms. Murphy’s career with the SEC, how the politicized atmosphere in Washington impacts rulemaking and the status of pending rule-making and other developments.

Please feel free to contact David Scileppi or Bob Lamm for more information.
