In late 2017, the third-annual fundraising luncheon was held to benefit Broward County Public Schools‘ debate initiative. More than 200 people attended.
The debate initiative is a one-of-a-kind partnership between area businesses and high school debate programs in the county.
George S. LeMieux and Gunster have led the charge to increase business involvement with the initiative, along with sponsoring the annual fundraiser.
Competitive academics is important, LeMiuex tells Michaela Garretson of Lifestyle Media Group. LeMieux describes debate as having a transformative effect on students, helping students with critical thinking, he says in the article.
Next up in the world of debate in South Florida? The National Speech & Debate Association’s annual tournament will be held June 17-22, 2018 in and around Fort Lauderdale.
