Aaron Jay Horowitz is a Shareholder in Gunster’s Fort Lauderdale office and serves as Chair of the firm’s Associate Development Committee.

Aaron advises businesses and individuals on resolving complex disputes. He concentrates his practice in the areas of business litigation, estate and trust litigation, intellectual property litigation and real property litigation. In addition to litigating at the trial court level, Aaron has also represented clients in appellate proceedings before state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court.

Aaron’s clients have ranged from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups across diverse industries, and include financial institutions, automobile manufacturers, land developers, construction and engineering firms, luxury goods manufacturers, software developers, cloud computing service providers, internet marketers, agricultural and food producers, gaming and entertainment companies, beach resorts and consumer product manufacturers. Moreover, in his estate and trust litigation practice, Aaron represents trustees, personal representatives, curators and beneficiaries in high asset fiduciary disputes.

Aaron was selected as a “Top 40 Under 40” by The National Trial Lawyers and a “Legal Elite Up & Comer” by Florida Trend magazine. He was also named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers.

Aaron earned his B.S.B.A. in Decision and Information Sciences, summa cum laude, from the University of Florida. Following his undergraduate studies, he obtained his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. A South Florida native, Aaron is active in the community and serves in leadership roles for local professional and nonprofit organizations.

  • Represented Fortune 500 construction and engineering services company in a contractual dispute concerning three water and wastewater treatment facilities valued at over $60 million
  • Defended Fortune 1000 gaming company in $80 million contractual dispute with attempted purchaser of 30-acre pari-mutuel facility
  • Represented international entertainment company in $129 million bid to acquire multiple pari-mutuel facilities involved in litigation with lenders
  • Defended land owner in comprehensive plan consistency challenge concerning 7,600-acre parcel
  • Represented surviving spouse in obtaining pretermitted spousal share of an estate with over $84 million in assets
  • Represented beneficiary in trustee removal and breach of fiduciary duty litigation concerning trusts with over $20 million in assets
  • Represented court-appointed fiduciary in disgorgement and surcharge litigation against prior trustees and personal representatives
  • Defended 900-acre beach resort in dispute with assignee of developer concerning entitlement to club membership rights
  • Represented cruise line stevedoring operation in breach of fiduciary duty litigation relating to sale of assets
  • Defended database software company in multi-million dollar breach of contract disputes with customers in several states
  • Represented manufacturer of environmentally sensitive products in patent infringement and false advertising litigation with competitor
  • Represented international luxury sink and faucet manufacturer in trademark and unfair competition dispute against Florida competitor
  • Defended state-chartered bank in patent infringement action relating to online banking and account management services
  • Represented boat builder in replevin and conversion action concerning transfer of design rights for proprietary boat molds
